EGR Bypass / Removal / Delete

Manufacturers have over the years have been forced to create better emission control due to EU and government bodies creating stringent emission targets. The EGR (Exhaust gas recirculation system)has been fitted to almost every brand and is designed to further reduce emissions but in doing so further compromises the efficiency of the engine.

Many motorists are becoming wise to the negatives of the EGR system and its expensive repair bills and reliability issues they cause and indeed when not functioning properly excess emissions can occur. Therefore, we offer a full EGR removal/bypass service which results in better efficiency and less maintenance costs. But don’t worry….it wont effect your MOT! Our EGR removal service offers the following:

  • Cleaner Induction System and Engine
  • Better Fuel Economy
  • Improved Throttle Response
  • Less Flat Spots
  • More Power
  •  Lower Maintenance Costs
  • Prolonged Engine and Turbo Life

Our EGR removal service can be completed on a wide range of vehicles where replacement can be very expensive and removal is cost effective and permanent. We find that many customer often purchase a stage 1 remap with EGR removal as a cost effective package. Contact us now with your full vehicle details or registration number for a free quotation.

The Truth Behind EGR Valves

Why are EGR Valves fitted?

EGR is fitted by manufacturers in order to reduce the amount of NOx (Nitrogen Oxide) emitted by the vehicle. However, there are many negative effects than the so called “Benefits”.

Negative Implications:

  • Causes Carbon Build up Inside The Inlet Manifold, Engine Internals and Turbo
  • Reduces Performance
  • Increases Particulate Matter (Soot)
  • Reduced Engine Effeciency

Failure often occurs when the dirty exhaust gasses clog up the valve causing it to stick in the open position, when this happens the engine is starved of oxygen and becomes inefficient and sluggish, in some cases the vehicle can become  un-driveable and fuel consumption is compromised. The valves can also fail electronically when the internal motor or position sensors failing causing the engine to enter limp mode and check light illuminated also we see many clogged but no warning for the driver just reduced performance and excess soot content from the exhaust.

Removing/Deleting the EGR Valve will result in the following;

  • More Power
  • Better Fuel Efficiency
  • Less Flat Spots
  • Improved Throttle Response
  • Lower Maintenance Costs
  • Cleaner Induction System
  • No Effect on MOT (NOx is not tested during a diesel MOT test)

There are two aspects to EGR Removal:

1. The  Valve is blanked preventing any exhaust gasses to pass through the valve and entering the intake system. EGR blanking is only required when the valves cannot fully close due to carbon build up.

2. The ECU is Remapped (Reprogrammed) and the EGR functions are removed from the ECU software or the valve is electronically programmed to remain closed at all times. This is the most important part of the job and it is vital that it’s done correctly. We can also remap the vehicle for increased power and torque at the same time if required and in most cases at no extra cost.
